Pres. Geri opened the Oct. 12th meeting at 12:15 and asked Russ Johnson to lead us in singing "God Bless America". She then called on Sheila Johnson to give the invocation. We had four choices of meals today... blackened haddock, baked manicotti, steak tips, or baked stuffed chicken.

Announcements
- President Geri said that District Governor Bob Jacobson will be visiting our club next week. A good attendance would be welcomed. We will be presenting a Paul Harris Fellowship to Mary Larnard's aunt who has reached the grand age of 100 years. This will be the kick off to our 100th anniversary of Rotary. The Interact Club will also be in attendance. They are planning to make a donation to the "Water for Haiti" fund, and our Rotary Club will match their donation.
- On October 26 the Group Study Exchange from Turkey will be coming to Newburyport and we will host them for the day. Anyone interested in being part of this Hosting Committee, please let Geri know.
- The District Conference will be this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Northport, Maine. Geri and a few others will be attending and will come back with some great new ideas.
New Member Inducted
Bob Keiver inducted our newest member, Karl Gray. He and Karl have worked together for thirty years, and he knows Karl will make a great Rotarian. He gave Karl the "ABC's of Rotary" to read and asked that all members sign his book.
Program
Our very own Zack Longley spoke today. First he asked if anyone had ever had their identity stolen. He had a list of things to do in the event that it ever happens. One thing is to copy in your wallet prior going on a trip. It will make life a lot easier when calling to report your losses.
He then read a letter about Jack - a - man who was always too busy - and the death of his old neighbor with whom he spent many hours. it turns out that the neighbor had a package sent to Jack upon his death. In it was the thing he valued the most, a gold pocket watch, and note saying "Thanks for the time." This made Jack readjust his life and spend more time with his family. You see, once time has passed, there's no way to retrieve it.
