Russell Johnson opened the July 27 meeting by singing "God Bless America" a capella. The invocation was given by George Cashman followed by lunch of grilled salmon or eggplant parmesan. Ted Shepard had a great idea. He is going to record his music so that we can still have music even when he is gone.

Guests and Visiting Rotarians

Dean McLellan read the guest book today. Guests were Amy Bride, Secretary of the Newburyport Lions Club, and Dick Seery, visiting Rotarian from Portsmouth. Amy invited us to participate in the Bed Race held on Thursday, August 5. The entry fee is $30 and she would love to see us join in the fun. Geri fined Dean $5 for bringing Amy as his guest.

Birthdays and Anniversaries

Happy anniversary to Mike Strem.

Happy Dollars

Mark Audette was happy to report that he bought a new truck, and after leaving ____________ he stopped at Zip Type, where Russ asked if he had paid a fine for his new truck, and along the way he saw John Allison from John Farley Clothiers, and then headed for Chase & Lunt to see Jay Howlett to get the truck insured. And yes, the truck has a Hemi!

Picture Fines

Geri had pictures of Scott Vandersall, Bill Lioman, George Cashman, Kate Kelly (which Peter agreed to pay for), and Claudia and Mary with flowers.

Announcements

  • Birthday and anniversary fines will now be $10. If you are single, you will be fined for your pet's birthday.
  • Badge sheet is still being passed around. If you have a badge, wear it next week or you will be fined.
  • The Chicken BBQ is this Sunday. Thirty-nine members have signed up, which is about 50%. Jay McGovern said the Secret Sauce Committee will be preparing the sauce later this week.
  • The canoe will be moved to the Firehouse where tickets will continue to be sold. More volunteers are needed to sell tickets during the week.

Program

Jay Howlett spoke today about Rotary having a major fund raiser next year. He's thinking a golf

tournament would be a great idea, raising a possible $7,000. It would be held next September at the Ferncroft and would be a 4 - Ball Tournament. Cost to be $135 per player with sponsors bringing in additional funding. He feels the fund raiser should be simple..enjoyable...effective. Stay tuned for more information.
